A Wonderful Day For KCS: On November 27, 1983 at 2:00 pm at St Benedict Church (2215 W. Irving Park, Chicago, IL), a joint general body meeting of Knanaya Catholic Association of Chicago KCAC and Knanaya Catholic Congress of Chicago (KCCC) members was held with John C. Elakkatt as Chairman.

KCAC president Cyriac Kotoor and KCCC President Michael Manniparambil declared their organizations as dissolved. Chacko Poovathumkal read the new constitution prepared by Chacko Poovathumkal, James Mukalel, and Kurian Thattarett in consultation with attorneys. The general body approved the constitution and suggestions were invited to name the new association.According to the majority suggestion, the Chairman, John C. Elakkatt declared Knanaya Catholic Society of Chicago as the name of the new association.

Thus it was at this momentous meeting that the Knanaya Catholic Society (KCS) was born as the one and only Knanaya Catholic organization in Chicago. New office bearers were elected in the same general body meeting with Thomas Tharayil as President, Rajan Kalladanthyil as Vice President, Prasad Poovathumkal as Secretary, Jose Chackalackal as Assistant Secretary and Jose Panangatt as Treasurer.
